It was but a season
and one of no little beauty
The trees were high and huge
The leaves were green and tender
Tenderness was also in the juicy fruit, and in your eyes
the wind would shake around our hairs
and they would somehow mingle and grow
The puffy clouds that would often come and surround us
were light and soft, but could not compare with your delicate skin
When the night came it was always full of a bounteous moon
and your heart was the loveliest gift of Nature
And somenight I will come into your sleepy thoughts
to remind you of my love
And if that whisper turns your mouth into a smile
I might be content
